Pelagius was a Celtic Christian from Wales who debated with St. Augustine about the separation of people from nature and the consolidation of Caesar’s rule. His question remains today: Will Christians awaken to the sacredness of the earth and of all people, regardless of gender, race, and religion, and act responsibly with compassion? Today’s environmental justice advocates could learn from Pelagius.
