In case you missed the news, last week, Rumeysa Ozturk, a Tufts graduate student, was detained on the streets of Somerville by agents wearing black masks and sent to an ICE facility in Louisiana. Ms. Ozturk is a friend of a member of my First Parish Cambridge community. We join her friends, family and colleagues in praying for her safe release. (Rumeysa’s friends in the congregation have asked that we share with you this tribute from her friends and colleagues at Tufts: https://as.tufts.edu/epcshd/news-events/news/rumeysa-ozturk-our-student-teacher-colleague-and-friend)
I hope you’ll consider joining us next Saturday, April 5th, for the National Hands Off Day of Action on Boston Common. We’ll meet up with our friends from UU Mass Action at the Parkman Bandstand on the Tremont Street side of the Common, behind their banner: Our Love is Resistance. RSVP here to be with us.

It’s time we tell Donald Trump and Elon Musk to keep their little hands off the critical programs and services that middle-class and working families rely on!
Hands Off Massachusetts is joining chapters across the country for a nationwide day of peaceful protest and action. Trump and Musk are trying to seize everything they can while enriching themselves and their billionaire friends. They intend to dismantle the Clean Air Act, the EPA, and everything in between; now is our chance to show up and protect and defend it.
